Depending on the characteristics of your scene, CutOut 8 provides three methods for cropping.

Clipping based on object contours

CutOut 8 can crop subjects with clear edges that are relatively distinct from the background based on their visible boundaries. You use the mouse to draw an area around your object that roughly delineates its contours. Then CutOut 8 detects the foreground and separates it from the background. If closed interior areas, which can occur with pocket handles and angled arms or legs, are not cropped, there are additional tools that can be used to post-process such subtleties. The next step is to choose a new background for your scene from any image file on your hard drive. You can now move or resize the cropped object over the new background as you wish.

Clipping over interior and exterior

Remove any background from your scene. This does not have to be a solid color or contrast strongly with the foreground object. You mark the edges of your object as you choose to separate it from its surroundings. You enable cropping with the polygon tool. With it, you can freehand draw a frame around your main subject as an interior and exterior. Even behind glasses, hair or translucent clothing the background disappears with this method. If, similar to cropping based on the object contours, closed inner areas remain, these can also be reworked with the fine tools.

Chromakey clipping

The chromakey method won't mean anything to laypeople right away, but you're probably familiar with the example of the weather map on the news. A person is standing in front of a monochrome wall in the studio, and the background in the finished TV picture is the satellite image complete with cloud film. This is also how CutOut 8 can work with your photos. An object in front of a uniform green or blue surface can be cut out and provided with a different environment virtually at the push of a button. Replacing the background then works as with the tools presented so far. Cutting out with the polygon tool is not necessary here.

Before - After

As long as you are experimenting with your backgrounds, CutOut 8 can show you the modified image next to the original. The effect of the clipping can be checked at any time with various mask tools. You can also undo as many steps as you like if the result does not meet your expectations.

Editing options

With the basic adjustments of color intensity and contrast or brightness or simple images, you can give your finished image the final touch.
